To run for City Office you must file with City Hall, an affidavit of Candidacy and pay a $2.00 filing fee.

If you recieve contributions or make disbursments of $750 or more, you must complete the below Finacial Statement and file it with the city.

By browsing through this site, you will find information on candidate filing, voter registration, and absentee voting.  Some of this information will not appear on this site until closer to an upcoming election. Am I eligible to vote?

You may register and vote in Minnesota if you:

• will be at least 18 years old on election day;
• are a citizen of the United States;
• will have resided in Minnesota for 20 days immediately preceding election day;
• maintain residence at the address given on the registration form;
• are not under court-ordered guardianship in which the court order revokes my right to vote;
• have not been found by a court to be legally incompetent to vote;
• have the right to vote because, if I have been convicted of a felony, my felony sentence has expired (been completed) or I have been discharged from my sentence, and have read and understand this statement, that giving false information is a felony punishable by not more than 5 years imprisonment or a fine of not more than $10,000, or both.

How do I become an election judge?

Serving as an Election Judge is an excellent way to get involved within your community. You will learn election procedures, and ensure that elections are administered in a fair manner. Election Judges are an essential part of our democracy and are needed more than ever.  If you are interested in learning more about being an Election Judge, contact City Hall 763-784-2792.

How do I vote absentee?

Persons unable to go to their polling place location on Election Day but still want to vote in the election can vote by absentee ballot.  In Minnesota, all citizens are allowed to vote absentee.

• August 11th - State Primary Election - Polls Open 7:00am - 8:00pm
• November 3rd - General Election Day - Polls Open 7:00am - 8:00pm

Where do I vote?

The City of Lexington only has one polling place located at Lexington City Hall, 9180 Lexington Avenue.  Polls are open from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. during elections.

• June 26th - In-Person & Mail in absentee voting for State Primary
• August 8th - Absentee Voting 9:00am to 3:00pm
• August 11th - State Primary Election - Polls Open 7:00am - 8:00pm
• September 18th - In-Person & Mail in Absentee voting for General Election
• October 24th - Saturday Absentee Voting 9:00am to 3:00pm
• October 31st - Saturday Absentee Voting 9:00am to 3:00pm
• November 1st - Sunday Absentee Voting 9:00am to 3:00pm
• November 3rd - General Election Day - Polls Open 7:00am - 8:00pm
